Close Concerns is a healthcare information firm focused on diabetes, pre-diabetes, and obesity, dedicated to improving patient outcomes by educating physicians, scientists, researchers, business leaders, educators, manufacturers, policymakers, and patients about the most important news and research in the field. With thousands of subscribers at academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, drug and medical device companies, and government bodies, Close Concerns and our publication Closer Look are widely respected in the healthcare community. We study new research and interview clinicians and thought leaders, working with our advisory board of world-class endocrinologists, cardiologists, primary care physicians, nurses, and community health workers to help make everyone smarter about diabetes and obesity. Our firm is located in the vibrant Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco.

This position involves significant travel in the US and internationally. In 2017-2018 we have attended conferences in Aspen, Abu Dhabi, Barcelona, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, Halifax, Las Vegas, Lisbon, London, Munich, Orlando, San Diego, Shanghai, Tel Aviv, and Vienna. Associates typically travel about 30% - 50% of the time, including over weekends.

The Associate position at Close Concerns is ideal for someone with a significant science or pre-medical background with additional interest in business, public health and/or health policy. Strong critical thinking and writing skills are a must.

The diaTribe Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the lives of people living with diabetes and prediabetes, and to advocate for action. The diaTribe Foundation is committed to helping people with diabetes live happier, healthier, and more hopeful lives. By providing free online information to people around the world who are affected by diabetes and prediabetes, The diaTribe Foundation empowers through education. diaTribe Learn, which provides diabetes insights and actionable tips, reaches nearly two million people annually. The diaTribe Foundation is also dedicated to amplifying the voices of people with diabetes, raising awareness, and advocating for change. This involves working with scientific and diabetes communities to reach out to policymakers, regulators, and the public at large. The diaTribe Foundation also regularly brings together diverse audiences of diabetes experts, health care leaders, and policymakers to develop innovative solutions – notably, the dSeries: Executive Innovation Lab on Diabetes and Prediabetes. Our rapidly growing organization is located in the vibrant Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco.

The Full-Time Associate position at The diaTribe Foundation is ideal for someone with a significant science or pre-medical background who has additional interest in public health, health policy, the nonprofit sector, and/or business. Strong writing and communication skills are essential.

There is also a one-year fellowship available for candidates interested in partnership development, proposal writing, marketing, and helping to bring stakeholders together in diabetes. For those interested in a one-year experience at The diaTribe Foundation, please mention this in your cover letter. dQ&A Research Associates are passionate about diabetes and healthcare and are fascinated by data-driven approaches that yield patient-focused solutions. Research Associates assume significant responsibility at the company, often leading key dQ&A research products and/or serving in major roles on custom projects for clients. Among their many duties, Associates write and field surveys, analyze the resulting quantitative and qualitative data, and translate this analysis into written reports and data visualizations that provide market insights and solutions. The role may also include collaborating with clients on new projects, interacting with people with diabetes, contributing on peer-reviewed abstracts and publications, managing summer associations and interns, and assisting with new dQ&A research product launches.
